WordPress absolutely rule as easy to use CMS, and you can use any of its nice Gallery plugins for presentation. LJ crossposting is also a nice plugin feature of WP. If you wish, I can help you to set up WP on your domain.

I am a web designer too. As people have said already I think the best way is to design the layouts (for each page) in photoshop yourself and get someone else to build the site for you.

As with others here I would be more than happy to put some ideas together for you but you are probably better off doing it yourself if you can.

There is always this as a quick way to build a flash website yourself and is aimed at non web designers: [link] - there is a free option but you cant have the site you create on your own url (domain name) but for a monthly fee (I think) you can. This would probably work out cheaper than paying for a flash website and subsequent updating. Plus you are completely in control.

Also, there must be many more sites that act as a sort of shop selling photos and prints etc. Etsy: [link] although perhaps unsuitable for photography and print sales is an example of the kind of site(s) I'm talking about. Alternatively you just need to set up a shopping cart & sales section for your "products" that is integrated into your site but this will have to be paid for (unless you are friends with a programmer) and in the UK currently starts at around £300 as far as I know.

Hope this helps.

If you need a web-site host, let me know. I have a web-site through ReadyHosting.com, and you can buy second sites pretty cheap... so, I could register one for you, and it would cost you a lot less than it would probably cost you elsewhere.

Its probably a bit late to reply, but-
If you're going to set up your own website, the preparation part is pretty simple:
1) Register the domain name (.com)
2) Buy some hosted web space to put the site on.
(I use dreamhost.com for both)

I'm assuming you just want a photo hosting site that lets you sell prints from, the best I've seen is photoshelter.com - a little expensive but it lets you sell prints easy, set up a page easy, extra security, and it lets you set up galleries and put them into your own site (like a slideshow)
