Ripped

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 18, 2009, 10:54 AM

"Good news, everybody!"
One of my pictures was stolen used by unknown person for concert poster. And i am absolutely sure that i did not give any permission to use something in a such away.

Of course i am flattered that someone think that my work is good enough for such usage but wtf?
Why do i know such wonderful news being last? I mean, where is my invitation to the concert??

Seriously, what should i do with such copyright violation?
Help?

Btw, here is the ripped image

The thing is, I make flyers and promotion materials my selfe and in most of the cases the organisors provide me the materials like pictures. I had a case against me, because of incorrect and illigal ussage of pictures. I did bring them in contact with the organisor. He did use a lawer in this case and he didn't had to pay a cent for using the pictures. IMHO I believe thats not correct, but he won, because the pictures were googled with a filter. and the pictures were found without license and stuff :-S

I never did an assignment for him again.

I only telling this, because it's not that easy to win a case like this. the internet makes our world bigger but also more acceseble for peeps who like to use all kinds of art for there own benefit without contacting or buying from the artist.

Greets,
Roy

only thing i want is the answer and exuses
if they asked me i could't say "no, never" but in such a way, no good words

of course i dream abput compensation but all depends on the answer, if they will be rude or not react at all - i'll find how to make their days not pleasant

Find the promoters address and send them a very official looking bill for services and artwork. Make the amount reasonable and odds are some accounts payables clerk will just pay it! If it is really a large amount they will stop and ask someone and you will not get anything.
I did that for some advertising for an art show I was not showing in but did a few years before. Someone on their staff found my artwork in their computer and just used it! I did not complain, I just sent them a bill! And they paid it!

Well imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, still don't know why people do that when they could just ask. Go get em'!

Tbh I'm sure that you (like all other russian fellas) use stolen windows to work on PC, stolen photoshop or coreldraw to edit your photos, play stolen games (donloaded from internet), watch stolen movies etc. Do you really think that you have moral rights to complain about some poor romanian guys from amateur music group for using your picture?

I'm not trying to cause offence to you, just want to figure it out.
